Meet the owners of Royal Roofing & Solar, Austin and Buffy Watterson! Austin started Royal in 2014. Buffy, who had spent 17 years in the insurance world, took the leap from insurance and joined the team in 2015. While she has maintained her insurance license since then, she handles a lot behind the scenes to help keep things going around here. Aside from things like keeping our fleet of vehicles safe and legal, she also does a lot of our outside marketing and networking, keeps the office supplied with all the necessities, and is our Chief Morale Booster; she can be counted on to bring in sweet treats and goodies to celebrate everyone’s milestones and sometimes, simply just to say thank you. She wants everyone to feel appreciated and valued. Austin is our fearless leader and President of Royal Roofing & Solar. He is constantly brainstorming ways to improve policies, our system, and the company as a whole. He works hard and plays hard, and expects everyone who works for him to do the same. He has an open-door style of management, and considers all of the thoughts and ideas of his employees. Above all, he puts a lot of value into family, and being a husband and a father himself, allows his employees the flexibility to put their own families first. Aside from Royal, they are the proud parents to their 17 year old son, Brayden, and their twin 7 year old daughters, Annistyn and Addalyn. They stay pretty busy just with the kids and their activities, but they also love spending time with friends and family, race horses, concerts, and traveling to new places with their friends!
Josh started working as a laborer in 2013, then was a field manager, Project Manager, Director of Operations, Vice President and now President. He’s aa hard-working person and makes everyone around him better. He truly cares about the business, customers and the Royal Team. He loves his wife Ashlee and 3 daughters (Peyton, Piper & Parker). He’s like family to us. Glad he’s on our team. Josh believes hard work and determination is the key to a successful life. In his free time, he spends time with my family. He also boasts that he’s one of the biggest Chiefs fans out there!
Brooke reached out to us in 2018 looking for a new job until she decided where life was going to take her. She started with answering phones. She started handling a lot of admin duties, follow ups and many other general office tasks. She’s done anything and everything ever asked of her- including cleaning toilets & dishes. She’s a huge part of the brand we have built and one of the reasons of our long term success. She’s very loyal and caring to our whole team. She always has their back. She pushes everyone to be their best. She’s helping build a great sales team and helping them become successful. She’s going to show other women that they can be successful in the roofing industry as well.
Emily has been with our Royal team for over 3 years now. She came on board to handle our accounting but she continued to handle any task thrown at her. She keeps us in line financially and helps make a lot of good financial decisions. She’s a team player and enjoys helping everyone win. She’s a no nonsense type person until it comes to practical jokes. Then she becomes full of nonsense. Women in roofing is a powerful thing. We are glad to have this boss lady part of our Royal family. We appreciate her, her hard work and dedication to the team.
Daphyne is a proud mom to 4 sons, 1 who still lives at home. In her spare time, she can be found fishing! Before coming to Royal, she worked with kids and customer service, as well as hands-on manual labor, such as building combine harvesters. She loves industrial work, which is what drew her to Royal Roofing & Solar. Being at Royal gives her the opportunity to combine the two things she loves doing-working and talking with people in the construction industry. She has learned so much about roofing and solar since coming to Royal, and we are so happy to have her on our team.
Mike Dale was born and raised in Pleasant Hill and Graduated from Pleasant Hill High school in 1994. He went to college at Missouri Valley College in Marshall Missouri on a Football / Rodeo scholarship and competed in rodeo as a steer wrestler for 25 years. He retired in 2015 after winning the 2014 year-end championship in the MRCA (Missouri Rodeo Cowboy Association). Mike is also a singer and entertainer with a country band called Michael Dale and The Hired Guns. Mike met his wife Jenifer in Grandview MO at the Harry hay day festival while singing in 2003. Jenifer is an operating room nurse at Saint Luke’s hospital in Kansas City. They have been married for almost 18 years and have 2 girls. Lauren is 17 and Lilli is 14. Mike worked for Union Pacific Railroad for 17 years and decided to become a member of the Royal team in 2021 to try and spend more time with his family and friends. He looks forward to creating a network of people that can work together to build contacts and referrals to help generate business and bring people together.
Gerry Lawless works in our Windsor office, and has been with us for over 3 years. He actually came out of retirement, after years in the restaurant industry, to be a part of our team! He and his wife, Lisa, have 6 kids, along with 15 grandkids with another one on the way. Gerry is also a Veteran, who served in nuclear, biological, and chemical defense for the Marines. In his free time, he loves going to his lake house and enjoying the peace and quiet away from the city.
Clint has been working with Royal for a little over 2 years, after working as a service advisor and service manager at Ford for almost 30 years. He’s extremely devoted to his job, but even more devoted to his wife, Melissa, of 23 years. He prides himself in providing the best service he can. He strives to build long lasting relationships. He has 3 kids Kelsie, Maddie and Zak and his 3 grand babies, Kenzlie, Waylon and Slade!! In his free time Clint enjoys hunting, fishing, archery, riding his side by side, corn hole with friends and taking his wife away on weekends!a
David is originally from Oregon, but is a diehard Kansas City Chiefs and loves his Royals!
He is happily married to his wife Jennifer, and a proud father to 3 great kids. He is also one of our veterans here at Royal, having retired from the US Air Force after 23 years, finishing his military career with the B-2 Stealth Bomber. After his 30-year Military Intelligence career, he changed career course to be closer to home and family, and discovered a new path in Roofing and Home Exteriors, loving every minute of it. He is passionate about meeting people, learning their personal stories and home exterior. needs or issues and being able to provide a viable solution. As a Veteran himself, he is an ardent supporter of the Veteran community, and loves being part of the Royal Roofing & Solar Team, a family-centered, military supportive company that is active in and gives back to local communities.
